My research focuses on establishing the chemical and genetic basis for reversible morphological transition in Mycobacterium avium as well as the impact of this switch on virulence, antibiotic resistance, and host immune modulation. We employ in vitro as well as in vivo models to investigate the mechanisms of establishment and progression of M. avium pulmonary disease.
