Forskning

I moved to Lund as a young student in the early sixties and have then stayed at Lund University, passing a Fil. lic. in 1968 and PhD in 1970. My thesis work was on the Non-breeding Ecology of Diving Ducks.

I have always been interested in the ecology of waterfowl and wetland ecology and the management of wetlands especially for the bird fauna. Since 1967 I have been responsible for the monitoring programs of waterfowl within the framework of Wetlands International for Sweden, which is a part of the International program supporting the International Convention for the protection of wetlands and their fauna. In later years the work has been extended to studying the impact of various developments on the bird fauna especially in the marine environments (e.g. related to large construction works, windfarms etc.).

Being retired, my main plans for the future is to run the ongoing projects and write up results from the long-term studies.

I am national representative for Sweden in a number of specialist groups ( ducks, seaducks, goose, swans) within Wetlands International (connected to IUCN) being responsible for monitoring of wetland birds in Sweden.
