Forskning

Proteins determine the phenotype of cells and are often regulated by the dynamic addition and removal of chemical groups, i.e. post translational modifications (PTMs). Enzymes regulating PTMs are frequently dysregulated in disease states, such as cancer. As the PTM status typically reflects protein function its analysis is of great value for both fundamental exploration of cellular/molecular mechanisms and clinical applications.

The method of choice for large-scale analysis of proteins and their modifications - proteomics - is mass spectrometry (MS). My research concerns MS-based quantitative analysis of proteins and their PTMs status to uncover their function and clinical relevance.
