Forskning

Dr. Marianne Holmgren is an Assistant Researcher at the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. She got her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2004 and Postgraduate Diploma in Specialist Nursing—Primary Health Care in 2011. Her professional experience comes mainly from municipal home care and primary health care but also from child and youth habilitation. Both professional and personal experience with disabilities has made her very interested in nursing in the area of disabilities.

 

She defended her dissertation in 2018 with the thesis "It's time to talk about mobility disability and overweight" at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. The focus of the thesis was to investigate whether overweight or obesity affected the health-related quality of life and participation in society among people with mobility disability in Sweden. After the defence she had a position as a university lecturer with course responsibility in the nursing and district nursing programs. Since 2021, she has devoted her time to research. In her current research, she is interested in promoting healthy aging in people with intellectual disability by interviewing them regarding how they perceive their ageing and how they want to age.
