Personlig profil


My main research interest is satellite data based environmental monitoring. In my current project, I develop, test, and apply methodology for detection and quantification of spatially explicit drought effects on Nordic forests and agricultural ecosystems. I use the Sentinel satellite fleet and other geospatial data in unison to identify drivers and map areas with high risk of disturbances. Change- and trend-detection methodologies will be developed and tested for vegetation monitoring based on time series information from satellites. This information can further help to investigate effects on the vegetation productivity, the carbon cycle, and possible lag effects on the following vegetation seasons after the drought event. Results achieved are used to develop management recommendations to mitigate direct and adverse secondary effects of drought events on ecosystem services within forestry and agriculture.
