Forskning

My research aims to understand mosquitoes peripheral sensation and behavioural output in order to develop control methods.

I conducted my M.Sc at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine where I had the opportunity to partake in a project in Brazil that explored the use of plant volatiles in traps against sandflies. This led to my doctorate studies in Brazil, where I worked with chemical ecology and behavioural studies to understand the association between stable fly outbreaks and sugarcane mills. I joined Lund University in 2016, where I have combined chemical ecology with molecular neuroscience to develop a sustainable oviposition trap that exploits an innate behaviour of mosquitoes, as well as, demonstrating the cellular and molecular basis of catnip and its use as a mosquito repellent.

My current research focuses on mosquito mating behaviour. I want to understand the dynamics involved in mosquito swarming and the role of pheromones in mating.
