I am a licensed psychologist and PhD student in clinical research. My research is in the fields of psychiatry and clinical psychology. My PhD project is focused on Brief Admission by self-referral (BA), a preventive crisis-management intervention for people with recurrent self-harm behaviour and suicidality. BA is a form of psychiatric admission, where the individual has the autonomy to decide themselves that they want to self-admit, rather than the traditional admission model where a physician makes this decision. Traditional psychiatric admissions tend to be widely unavailable, and also may have iatrogenic effects such as aggravated self-harm behaviour, for these individuals. Here, instead, BA holds promise as a method which strengthens the individual's autonomy, self-knowledge and self-care, encouraging helpseeking early on and preventing crisis.

Specifically, my research as well as my clinical practice, is nested within child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP). My research team is evaluating the implementation of BA within CAP. I am looking into the lived experiences of parents whose teenagers have access to BA, and also the experiences of psychiatric staff working with the method. In my previous research, I have been using both quantitative and qualitative research methods, but my PhD project is wholly qualitative.

Additionally, I conduct qualitative research on Swedish BDSM practitioners' experiences in therapy. My aim here is to generate transformative research which can guide improvement of clinical practice with these individuals.
