Research

My postdoctoral research focuses on wrist rehabilitation, particularly in patients with wrist osteoarthritis and post-traumatic wrist pain. I develop and evaluate tailored rehabilitation programs for these patient groups, assessing their effectiveness compared to standard rehabilitation and surgical interventions. I also study patients’ expectations before undergoing wrist surgery. In addition, I conduct psychometric evaluations of outcome measures in patients with wrist injuries as well as other types of hand injuries. I collaborate with researchers at Linköping University and the Karolinska Institute.

Doctoral thesis

My doctoral thesis Wrist osteorthritis – impact on daily life, self-management and outcome examines wrist osteoarthritis from several perspectives and evaluates surgical treatment options, measurement instruments, and the effect of basic treatment with exercise and education, which has not previously been assessed in wrist osteoarthritis.

Teaching

I am the course coordinator for the international advanced-level course Rehabilitation in Hand Surgery (15 credits) at Lund University. This commissioned program features leading experts in hand rehabilitation as guest lecturers and attracts students from around the world. www.medicine.lu.se/hand-surgery

Professional work

I am a physiotherapist specialized in orthopedics, working at the Hand Surgery Department, Skåne University Hospital, where I have provided outpatient care for patients with hand surgical injuries and conditions since 2010. Prior to this, I worked at the Hand Surgery Department in Stockholm from 2007. My expertise includes post-traumatic and degenerative wrist injuries as well as brachial plexus nerve injuries. As a specialist physiotherapist, I am part of a multidisciplinary team managing these often complex conditions, ranging from severe, life-altering injuries to more common hand surgical disorders.

The combination of clinical expertise and educational responsibility forms a strong foundation for my research, supporting the identification of clinically relevant research questions and the integration of new knowledge into clinical practice.
