Forskning

My research focuses on media-oriented and sociological approaches to literature and book culture. I have worked with audiobooks and audio literature, intermediality and transmedia storytelling, serial narratives and digital reading cultures.

My PhD-project focused on intermedial literature and the representation of cultural memory, and resulted in the book "Memory, Intermediality and Literature: Something to Hold on to" (Routledge, 2019). In 2018, I received an international postdoc-stipend from the Independent research Fund Denmark (2018-2020), focusing on serialization in contemporary literature culture. Thus, I study how serial narratives move between media, and how literary series are inspired by e.g. television series and vice versa.

Since 2020, I have focused on audiobooks and "audio literature," first in the postdoc project "Reading on the move" (LU, Digital Cultures, 2020-2022). In 2023, I received a project grant from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) for the project "Between Sound and Text: Production, Content and Experiences of Multimodal Audio Literature" (2024-2026). The project investigates how audiobooks, as an increasingly popular format, impacts literature and literary culture. Thus, we examine how the relation between sound and text shapes the aesthetic content of selected works as well as modes of production and experiences of literature.

And important part of this project, and my overall profile, is my interdisciplinary approach. I am interested in relations between texts and contexts; between aesthetic and narrative strategies, social and economic conditions, material aspects and medial affordances. To study these connections, I combine perspectives from fields such as publishing studies, literary studies, sound studies and intermedial studies and studies in digital cultures.
