Forskning

I want to make better crops for food production, but also understand the mechanisms that lay behind my traits of interest. I am since 2018 working at LTH within the industrial research center ScanOats (www.scanoats.se) and since autumn 2021 I am leading the oat genome work package. Within this group we are working with e.g. whole genome sequencing (both de novo and re-sequencing), mapping-by-sequencing to couple mutations to specific traits, and GBS to investigate the diversity of Nordic oats. Further, I am part of the PanOat consortium where we work with an upcoming oat pangenome.

My main research interest is seed lipids. To develop crops with improved lipid profiles, and improved storage properties. Which means I am focusing on the enzymes involved in seed lipid biosynthesis and degradation. One of my main research questions within ScanOats has been to identify and characterize lipases involved in post-harvest lipid degradation in oat and develop low lipase oat varieties. Previously I have worked to characterize enzymes involved in triacylglycerol formation in Camelina sativa.

Outside research I teach Biochemistry and Gene Technology at the BT program at LTH, and I am a member of the steering committee of PlantLink.
