Personlig profil

The main focus of our research are thyroid disorders, mainly Graves disease and Graves ophthalmopathy. We are studying the underlying mechanisms of Graves disease and ophthalmopathy such as inflammation and adipogenesis with the goal of developping new biomarkers that predict the diseases and novel therapies. Our research is translational, including both preclinical and clinical studies. Current focus is on the use of statins as potential treatment for Graves ophthalmopathy.

We are part of a national thyrotoxicosis research group (TT12) studying long-term outcomes of a large Swedish cohort of patients with Graves disease and toxic multinodular goiter compared to a healthy control group. We investigate many areas including overall mortality, bone disorders, quality of life, impacts of childhood thyrotoxicosis, psykosocial outcomes, cost-effectiveness of different treatment modalities, among others.
