Beskrivning

Two techniques that have been identified as key for 5G systems and beyond are distributed MIMO and massive MIMO. The former term refers to a multiplicity of geographically distributed transmission points which collaborate in various ways to enhance spectral efficiency. The latter term refers to an exciting, new communication paradigm in which the number of antenna elements is scaled up into the hundreds, or more, to reach unprecedented levels of spectral and energy efficiency. The ultimate performance that can be attained by any communication technique is, however, determined by the underlying communication channel. In this project, we aim at characterizing and modeling propagation aspects that are of essence to distributed and massive MIMO systems. Our work is relevant to the design and evaluation of such systems.
