Cortical and basal ganglia network resonance properties in Parkinson´s disease

In this project we aim to study properties of neuronal networks that may be contributing to motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease. These include, 1) Resonance properties of cortical and striatal networks, 2) Changes in corticostriatal plasticity between healthy, parkinsonian and dyskinetic brains and 3) The relationship between dopamine dynamics and synaptic plasticity.
Understanding the underlying mechanisms that ultimately causes symptoms in Parkinson’s disease will help us design better therapeutic intervention.
