Identifiering av bAD mikroglia vid Alzheimers sjukdom

Abstract: This proposal aims to characterize a deleterious role of microglia in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Our projects are based on our previous detection of microglial phenotype termed bAD: A galectin-3 expressing neurotoxic microglia affecting both amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau pathogenesis. We will use our newly developed single-cell/scRNAseq strategy and nanospectroscopy focusing on our identified targets (e.g. ApoE, galectin-3) and aging to elucidate cellular pathways identifying detrimental microglia, decisive for identifying new pharmacological targets
