Early–Middle Ordovician biotic and sedimentary dynamics in the Baltoscandian paleobasin

Projekt: Avhandling

Projektinformation

Beskrivning

The aim of the project is to study Ordovician faunal dynamics linked to the marine sedimentary depositional environment in order to better understand the faunal evolution during this dynamic time in Earth History. The dynamic Ordovician Period began with the most profound expansion of life that we know of, something that is usually referred to as the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event (GOBE), during which the number of lower level taxa diversified significantly over a relatively limited time frame. The period terminated dramatically with the first of the five known Phanerozoic mass extinction events. Within the project Ordovician faunal dynamics and paleoecology will be analysed and linked to the evolution of the sedimentary settings.
