Hand infections – epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment with focus on flexor tenosynovitis and septic arthritis

The aim of the project is to increase our understanding of hand infections, focusing on infections in flexor tendon sheaths and small joints, with the overall purpose to improve the possibilities for diagnosis and minimize the risk of severe complications. Specific scientific questions are related to epidemiology on a national level, socioeconomic factors, changes over time concerning spectrum of bacteria and specific risk factors involved in patients with diabetes.
