Heart perfusion-preservation

The project is about heart perfusion-preservation. It's conducted on human and porcine heart. The project is trying to find out how to preserve the heart with on going perfusion. Studies focus on improvement of perfusate and perfusion protocol.

Time limit has always been a problem for heart transplantation. To prolong the storage time and preserve the function of a potential donor heart, we are running a project of perfusion-preservation of the heart. Perfusion-preservation has been repeatedly proved to be a better method than cold storage (which is a clinical routine to store the heart). Our studies focus on how to perfuse the heart and find out a practical approach to clinic.
