How culture shapes gestural behavior

Projekt: Forskning

Projektinformation

Populärvetenskaplig beskrivning

Across cultures and languages spontaneous speech is often accompanied by gestures. It is a popular belief that Italians gesture more than Swedes. However, no empirical studies have tested this assumption. This project aims at comparing the spoken and gestural behaviors of Italian and Swedish adult speakers while they produce a narrative text in dyadic settings.
