Legal Pathways in Europe: from Access to Territory to Refugee Integration

Projekt: Avhandling

Projektinformation

Beskrivning

The project analyzes the relationship between complementary pathways and legal frameworks for access to territory and refugee integration. It aims to cast a detailed look at how refugee and human rights law on a European, but also on national levels interplay to produce certain legal integration outcomes for refugees who arrive under complementary pathways schemes. Complementary pathways is promoted mostly as a tool for migration control (rather than a protection tool) that is intrinsically related to integration. If complementary pathways are promoted on global and European levels, does EU and/or national legislation of selected countries facilitate the access to rights and integration of those who benefit from these legal avenues for migration in broader terms? The example of complementary pathways offers a novel perspective to assess EU law compliance with refugee and human rights law.
