Local breach of tolerance - understanding the process of chronicity in autoimmune disease

This research project aims to uncover the mechanisms behind the local breach of immune tolerance that leads to chronic inflammation in autoimmune diseases. Using juvenile idiopathic arthritis as a model — due to its limited systemic involvement — the study focuses on identifying autoantigens, autoreactive lymphocytes, and autoantibodies that drive disease chronicity.
