LU IP consists of researchers in law at Lund University with an interest in intellectual property law, data protection law, information technology law, media law, entertainment law, fashion law, and legal issues relating to new technology.

In a knowledge-based society, intangible assets play an increasingly important economic role. The protection of these assets is essential and has to be balanced against fundamental rights and legal principles, such as freedom of expression, information and the press, and the defence of human dignity, equality, solidarity, legality, and proportionality. Protection must also evolve in a way that is consistent with sustainable development goals. Furthermore, the fourth industrial revolution and new ways of communicating and innovating are challenging established legal frameworks, calling into question their applicability and fitness for purpose. Our research addresses these areas from a wide variety of perspectives.
