Material Objects, Ritual Subjects: Materiality and Personhood in Nineteenth-Century Lakota Ritual Life

My dissertation explores the relationship between ontological animism and ritual material dynamics in nineteenth-century Lakota (Teton, Western Sioux) ritual life, looking specifically at the bodily and performative strategies employed within the ritual milieu.
