Beskrivning

In this project, we are developing a conceptual framework for how nature-based solutions – actions that protect, sustainably manage and restore natural or modified ecosystems - generate synergies and mitigate trade-offs between biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, public health and human wellbeing. Based on fundamental understanding, this framework will capitalize on biodiversity science, ecosystem process understanding, environmental psychology and epidemiology, to consider shared drives and causal links. To inform a joint framework, we will systematically synthesize existing knowledge. We will consider ecological (e.g., historical and existing land-uses), socio-economic (e.g., economic, cultural, and educational) and individual appraisal (based on personal values, experiences, and interests) modifiers and mediators that may affect optimal design and spatial targeting of nature-based solutions.

This project is a part of the Lund University Excellence Programme for Sustainable Development.
