The COVID-19 pandemic started in Wuhan, China, in January 2020. Frontline nurses worldwide have been directly exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and have come in close contact with infected patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nurses execute tasks related to disease control, treatment and care and face multiple psychosocial challenges in their frontline work. Many nurses also experience psychological, social, and emotional distress in coping with work demands, social relationships, and personal life. Little is known about the working days of frontline nurses in relation to content, organisation, relationships/interactions and ways of gaining information and knowledge during the pandemic. This study focuses on these conditions in mainland China.
