Pregnancy effects on the woman’s heart during and after pregnancy – understanding of cardiac pumping physiology

The overall purpose is to clarify cardiac pumping physiology of the pregnant woman’s heart during and after pregnancy, using novel methods of cardiac pumping forces and efficiency earlier developed and validated in the research group. Secondary, this population will be used in later studies as a control group of a healthy volume-loaded heart as compared to the failing volume or pressure overloaded hearts in congenital heart defects and heart failure in collaboration with researchers at Lund University and Skåne University Hospital.
