Some Physical and Environmental Aspects of Shallow Ice Covered Lakes

The thesis is summarizing some natural processes dominating during the winter period for shallow lakes when it is ice covered. This includes an overview of existing research as well as analysis if data collected during field campaigns on a shallow lake in Russia. Emphasis was given to the growth and decay of the ice cover, thermal regime, currents and dissolved oxygen content of the water body. Relation between the ice cover and some atmospheric indicators are included.
