Beskrivning

"Individuals with tinnitus experience anxiety and depression more often than the general population. As many as 25% of adults in Sweden are estimated to experience tinnitus, which contributes to major societal costs due to sick leave and decreased productivity. Hearing aids is one of the most common interventions for tinnitus patients, and the amplification of sounds typically reduces the individual's tinnitus. However, the aim of conventional hearing aid amplification is to optimize speech intelligibility and listening comfort, while potential tinnitus mitigation has been completely disregarded when designing the amplification. In the present project, we aim to investigate whether specific individualized modifications of conventional hearing aid amplification enhances hearing aids' tinnitus mitigating effects and how such modifications affect symptoms of anxiety and depression among tinnitus patients."
