In the current project, workplace incivility will be investigated. Workplace incivility is defined as subtle negative behaviors that break the norms of what is acceptable behaviors at work, with an ambiguous intent to harm. Workplace incivility has been described as a phenomenon that can manifest as a social process in the organization, that ties into workplace norms, where co-workers exchange rude interactions, with the risk of resulting in more severe consequences for both the individual and the organization.
Previous research has shown a strong association between being targeted and/or witnessing incivility and instigating incivility. Few studies have however explored this relationships over time. In the current project, workplace incivility will be explored over time, and outcomes such as well-being, instigated incivility and more severe types of negative workplace behaviors will be explored.
