Sammanfattning

A relationship between stress and deformation can be evaluated from the load and elongation recorded in the tensile test of a strip of paper. This relationship characterizes the fracture properties of the paper. It shows how the stress acting across a fracture region decreases as the deformation increases. The relationship can be used in strength analysis by the finite element method and for the determination of various conventional fracture parameters such as fracture energy. The theory of characterization, a test method, and test
results for three papers are presented.
