Sammanfattning

The construction industry is ranked number one compared to other sectors when it comes to waste generated in the European Union. Reuse of products is a priority within the European Union to reduce the need for virgin materials and to reduce waste. Looking back at past practices, various approaches have been suggested to increase reuse of construction products, although these approaches have fallen short in scalability. In Sweden, circular hubs have started to gain popularity for increasing the reuse of products. However, little is known about how they operate, what their challenges are and how they can be improved and scaled up. Thus, the aim of this study is to shed light on how circular hubs operate, their current challenges and provide recommendations of how they can increase reuse of construction products. The paper contributes by describing the role of hubs for increasing reuse of construction products and providing suggestions to practitioners how hubs could be established and developed further.
