Sammanfattning

It is known for a fact that the far-field boundary causes expensive computer calculations, when applying the finite element method to Maxwells equations. The reason is of course that a magnetic potential of some kind must be forced to zero at an appropriate distance from the disturbance, in electromagnetics the conductor. Various methods have been examined to reduce the cost of these calculations. Infinite elements may be coupled to the model, and the far-field boundary may be handled with one element only.
