Sammanfattning

Efficient handling of faults during operation is highly dependent on the interval (latency) from the time embedded instruments detect errors to the time when the fault manager localizes the errors. Detection and localization latencies are dependent on the network connecting fault-monitoring instruments to the fault manager. The network can be dedicated to fault-monitoring data, or used for functional data, as well - posing a trade-off between cost and performance (or predictability). As a middle-ground solution, fault-monitoring networks based on existing IEEE 1687 networks have been proposed. In this paper, we provide an overview of such solutions based on IEEE 1687, detail fault detection and localization procedure for each, and compare them regarding fault detection and localization time.
