Sammanfattning

The role of the parliamentary opposition remains conspicuously absent in the literature on intelligence accountability and oversight. This chapter addresses the role of the parliamentary opposition in the oversight of Sweden’s intelligence agencies. In the first section, this chapter addresses the so-called institutional opportunity structures, whereby the opposition may challenge the majority on issues of intelligence; in the second section, the chapter approaches three crises of intelligence in Sweden through the prism provided by the oppositional politics perspectives.
