Sammanfattning

In the research on two of the most prominent persons among those who rescued Jews from the Holocaust, Oskar Schindler and Raoul Wallenberg, a reappearing purpose has been to separate mythical, and therefore more or less false, elements in the story from the true, and implicit, academic historical writing. However, during the last decades, it has been obvious that history is not only, and sometimes even foremost, about the past, but is also of great importance in the formation of identities and upholding of relations. That Schindler and Wallenberg were among the most successful in saving Jews has been of great importance to their status as the foremost among the Righteous Gentiles highlighted. The topic of the article is the changes in the interests for them after the end of the Second World War.
